If you happen to haven’t heard, New York Fashion Week 2023 began this week with some controversy. PETA orchestrated a protest to ship a message, based on their press launch.
Coach’s Spring/Summer season 2024 runway present on the New York Public Library was crashed by protestors calling out the model’s use of leather-based on September 7. Animal rights group PETA later launched an announcement claiming that one of many demonstrators was a PETA member. In line with their launch, the stunt aimed to “slam the model for its cruelty to cows and its reliance on environmentally damaging leather-based merchandise.”
Video of the shock second exhibits a lady stroll into the middle of the runway mid-show. Coated in pink, black and white physique paint that mimicked the look of muscle, she goes down the catwalk sporting a message painted on her chest: “Coach: Leather-based Kills.” One other demonstrator follows behind holding up a placard with the identical message earlier than a member of safety ultimately picked up and carried one of many protestors from the runway.

“PETA is shaking up Coach’s catwalk to drive residence the message that leather-based belongs within the annals of historical past, not in designers’ present collections,” stated PETA Government Vice President Tracy Reiman within the press assertion.
Coach’s inventive director Stuart Vevers stated that “I respect all factors of view” on the dinner following the present, based on Vogue.
