SEATTLE, United States — Want some chips quick? Amazon has you lined.
The Seattle-based firm launched a service Tuesday that lets Prime members in 5 cities decide up issues like snacks, chilly drinks or telephone chargers inside two minutes of ordering them on-line. Clients want to go over to an Amazon location to gather their order.
The service, referred to as Immediate Pickup, is the most recent transfer by the e-commerce big to develop its presence in bodily shops. Amazon.com Inc. has been opening brick-and-mortar ebook outlets across the nation and is shopping for natural grocer Complete Meals.
For now, the pickup areas are close to school campuses in 5 cities: Atlanta; Berkeley, California; Faculty Park, Maryland; Columbus, Ohio; and Los Angeles.
Amazon says it plans to develop the service into extra areas within the coming months.
